We did it!
So, 2 days before his due date, baby #2 decided now is the time. Contractions started mildly Sunday night but didn't get serious til Monday at 1:40pm. Got to the hospital around 5:15pm and at 5:45pm I was 9.5 cm! Baby was born at 6:36pm on October 6th. Elliot Emerson was 8 lb 5 oz and 22 1/4" long, a half-inch longer than his brother! Recovery has been swift, luckily! Elliot is doing great and big brother Oliver has really transitioned beautifully. Aside from a few expected moments, Oliver is really tender and protective of Elliot. Oliver's vocabulary now includes words and phrases like "pump", "boob", and "scoop him". He likes playing hide and seek with my nursing cover as I'm feeding Elliot out and about. We've gotten into the swing of things of life and Elliot fits right in. He lives in the ergo carrier and really prefers mom to hold him while he sleeps rather than a swing or car seat. Nursing is minimal but Elliot doesn't mind and takes the bottle just fine.

Last few weeks!
So we're at 38 weeks and still pregnant. Aside from some nasty back pain, general over-sized discomfort and intense itchiness, I'm feeling fine. Constant check-ins for any signs of labor to no avail. Sigh. We installed the infant car seats today and boy was that neat to see in the minivan! We had a great last few week ends starting with last week end. Our neighborhood had a block party and had a great turn-out. It was picture-perfect suburbia. Kids playing, parents talking and eating, men drinking beer and moms holding and bouncing babies. Then this past week end, we hosted 4 neighbor families with their kids for a bar b que. We combined it to a birthday celebration for one of the tots turning 2 and it was a huge success. We really love our neighbors and we've decided to try to make the get togethers somewhat of a regular thing. We have arrived!
Encinitas had Oktoberfest this past Sunday so we walked down to check it out. Lots of politicians, chiropractors and jewelry booths but Oliver loved the jumpy thing.
We've really had fun with Oliver the last few weeks as his speech has kicked in quite a bit. Here he's snuggling with Daddio...
Here's some baby #2 shots...from the inside and outside!
Hopefully the next post will be newborn pictures of baby #2!!

Ah, summer
Summer is coming to a close technically, but the weather is still holding strong. Thank goodness for AC because this preggo mommio would be miserable right now. A lot of people have seen this video but this is of the baby at 32 weeks. Yikes!
